Southeast Louisiana (SELA) is making strides in promoting fleet sustainability. The New Orleans Regional Planning Commission’s Clean Fuel Partnership welcomed 100+attendees to the region’s first Clean Fuels Summit at NOLA Motorsports Park in October, where green transportation industry experts highlighted the region’s successes and inspired fleet leaders to take action for the upcoming year.
“Delgado is a sponsor of the Clean Fuels Summit because we understand that the technicians we’re training today are going to have to meet the trends of tomorrow,” stated Delgado Community College’s Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Institutional Advancement, Arlanda Williams during the event’s welcome ceremony. “We’re developing our students and our customized vehicle technology program to meet local fleet professionals right where they are to help them reach efficiency goals for 2020.”
In addition to a wealth of education and technical sessions, attendees were able to experience how clean vehicles drive firsthand on NOLA Motorsports Park’s racetrack.Ride & Drive vehicles included Jefferson Parish Transit’s Propane Paratransit Van, NGV Solutions’ Compressed Natural Gas Pickup Truck, XL Fleet Electrification’s Hybrid F-250, Port NOLA’s all-electric Nissan LEAF, Limousine Livery’s Tesla, Porsche’s Panamera Plug-in Hybrid, Westport’s CNG F-150, and more!
Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Secretary, Dr. Chuck Carr Brown announced: “We are excited about the future of alternative fuel vehicles in the state of Louisiana. To lead by example, we will soon acquire an electric vehicle of our own. As an agency, we want to be a part of the charge leading Louisiana’s infrastructure, marketplace, and citizens to a brighter future.”
Clean Fuels Summit speakers included experts from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Renewable Energy Group (REG), Ford Motor Company, ROUSH CleanTech, Natural Gas Vehicles for America, NGV Solutions, XL Fleet Electrification, Solar Alternatives, ChargePoint, and the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE).
