The Greater Rochester Clean Cities coalition is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program. The formal recognition ceremony for the coalition took place at the Rochester Convention Center June 10th, 1998. Re-designation occurred in 2003-2004. The objectives of the coalition are to reduce dependence on imported petroleum and improve air quality through development of fleets of alternative fueled vehicles and supporting infrastructure.
These objectives are being met by providing educational events and demonstrations of alternative fuel vehicle technology. These events are intended to provide information to fleet managers, businesses, and other interested individuals and organizations. Information disseminated includes: Vehicle technical data, Refueling and service infrastructure information, incentives and laws governing requirements for alternatively fueled vehicles, etc. Often there are ride/drive opportunities included in these public activities.
