By utilizing a battery-electric Ford T350 Passenger Van repowered by Lightning eMotors and converted by Bus Service Inc., Columbus Yellow Cab will continue to provide the highest-level customer experience, while significantly improving the company’s operational and environmental performance.

“[We are] excited to deploy its new all-electric passenger van,” Morgan Kauffman, CEO/Owner of Columbus Yellow Cab, said. “The all-electric Lightning eMotors passenger van will provide a quieter, more cost-effective and environmentally friendly experience for our staff and customers, helping Columbus Yellow Cab demonstrate advanced vehicle technology today as part of our dedication to our customers experience.”

Lightning eMotors is a mobility technology company helping commercial fleets achieve their sustainability goals by offering zero-emission battery-electric fleet medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, including delivery trucks, shuttle buses, passenger vans, chassis-cab models and city transit buses.

Bus Service Inc. worked with Columbus Yellow Cab to de-content and upfit the existing Ford 350HD Transit Passenger Van before sending it to Lightning eMotors to repower into a full battery electric vehicle.  Bus Service Inc. is a commercial bus and van dealership company offering transportation services and alternative fuels technology and conversion services.

Through this diverse partnership, the project will utilize commercially available EVs, EVSE, equipment and facilities, as well as leverage app platforms to ensure seamless technology deployment and demonstration.

“This proof of concept aligns with our continued mission to be a trusted provider of innovative solutions and expands our network of partners in this rapidly changing industry,” Kauffman said.
