Asheville, NC, known for its environmentalism and healthy living, is home to a growing number of businesses that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint while promoting sustainability.

One such business, Dynamite Roasting Co., a local coffee roaster, and distributor located in Black Mountain, just outside of Asheville, has taken the lead to become the first business to invest in an electric delivery van. To top off this commitment to a greener business, the van is charged with solar panels power at the business site.

The vehicle purchase, and the energy source, reflect one of many steps the company has committed to in minimizing its impact on the environment, significantly reducing its carbon emissions, and playing a small role in the fight against climate change.

The 2022 Ford E transit fully electric vehicle is the first of hopefully many to be purchased in the Western North Carolina area. Dynamite Roasting Co.’s decision to switch to an electric delivery van was driven by a desire to be more environmentally friendly by reducing the company’s carbon footprint through the use of traditional fossil fuels.

It turns out the van also serves as a cost-saving measure, as the electric sprinter van saves the company money in maintenance and fuel costs. They have had no issues with the van’s ability to deliver their product, with the local delivery range for the van being 150 miles, easily allowing them to deliver daily.

The van acquires its power on-site from the company’s solar array. Even more impressive is that the array delivers 15 times the energy the company uses, allowing them to charge the van on-site while powering the building that houses Dynamite Roasting Co. This surplus of energy will allow for expansion in the future without more costs.

As for now, it enters the power grid and provides a little bit of green energy to his Black Mountain neighbors. This additional available output of electricity will easily allow for more vehicles in the future. Co-Founder Andy Gibbon is even considering having his next car be fully electric.

The public has responded positively to the company’s move towards sustainability. While it is the coffee their customers are drawn to, the effort of this company’s drive toward sustainability is not missed. Even the municipality of Black Mountain has made inquiries into Dynamite’s choice of vehicles.

Dynamite Roasting Co.’s decision to switch to an electric delivery van is just one example of how businesses can make a difference in the fight against climate change. It is also a testament to the benefits of solar power and the tax credits and benefits that come with it. By investing in renewable energy and sustainable practices, businesses can reduce their environmental impact, save money and help create a more sustainable future.

Dynamite Roasting Co’s investment in an electric delivery van powered by on-site solar panels is a positive step towards sustainability and a more environmentally friendly future for this Western North Carolina business.

It is a win-win for the founders as the van provides a carbon-neutral solution to a favorite local drink. The company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainability is an inspiration to other businesses, and Land of Sky Clean Vehicles hopes to see more businesses follow its lead in the future.
